A stunning low hours example of this majestic 1943 Stinson V77 Gullwing for sale. This aircraft is in Royal Navy markings with UK war history. This aircraft was attached to 740 Sqn and 703 Sqn and sports a British Serial number FK877. Its wartime provenance has been confirmed by the Fleet Air Arm research team at Yeovilton. Whilst attached to 740 Sqn FK877 was based at RAF Machrihanish and later with 703 Sqn at Thorney Island. RNAS Yeovilton also helped ensure that the markings were accurate for this particular aircraft. This Gullwing is fitted with the R680-13 engine producing 300hp. Only 498 hours SMOH (OH in 1991 and flown frequently since) with further upgrades since including new ignition wires, polished push rod tubes, new ignition shielding, newly painted and finished baffling, engine mount and oil tank (powder coated). Most notably the fuselage on this example has been metalised (Aluminium). Aircraft has an alternator fitted and Cleveland wheels and brakes. Airframe has only 1155.25 hours TTSN. The aircraft has also had all new front glass plating and seals fitted, engine cowl overhaul with new hardware and recent tailwheel overhaul. The pre-purchase inspection for the current owner was undertaken by an engineer at the Garber facility within the Washington Air and Space museum who was a leading expert on V77’s. He was quoted to have said that this was one of the finest examples he had ever seen. Current owner is a chief test pilot with Boeing having high levels of mechanical sympathy and airmanship. This aeroplane has been superbly looked after. Inside the aircraft has been fitted out with good levels of comfort for a military spec aeroplane. The aircraft spent some time flying senior Naval officers around various military establishments, and the current cabin fit reflects this.
