Flying the PC9A: Flying the Pilatus PC-9/A (ausairpower.net) This aircraft was formerly operated by the Royal Australian Airforce who have now upgraded their fleet to the PC21. The aircraft has been carefully restored at Horizon Aircraft Services at St Athan Airfield in South Wales UK. Horizon specialise in the restoration and maintenance of military jets. The aircraft has had the original paint take back to close to bare metal and meticulously inspected for any signs of corrosion. None was found. The aircraft has been resprayed in a military grey with new decals. Ites powered by the incredibly reliable and powerful P&W PT6A-62. This engine generates 1500 SHP but is derated to 950 SHP. The aircraft is offered with its current engine and also a spare which has been fully serviced to include run tests. In respect of the spare engine a fresh Form 1 has been issued with new logbooks for both the Power Module and the Gas Generation Module. See attached spec sheets for both the current engine and the spare engine with Sn. 103172. Has serviceable Martin Baker MK11 Ejection seats. However should the buyer wish to operate as hot seats they would require OH in accordance with the 6 year interval. Currently undergoing an inspection and maintenance programme in accordance with FAA procedures and will be sold with a fresh Certificate or Airworthiness to operate under the Experimental Category. The aircraft is fitted with mixed EFIS and analogue instruments. The VHF radios have been upgraded with 2 X FUNK. UHF remains functional. The TRIG transponder operates with the mode S function and ADSB out in compliance with USA/FAA requirements. We believe the panel retains the military character of the aircraft. That said we are able to offer a panel upgrade kit to include panel cut outs should the new owner wish to modernise the panel to all EFIS. Note that the PC9A is built with the strengthened undercarriage to facilitate landing on unmade strips such as grass. The engine system includes a inertial separator. The aircraft is supplied with a POH maintenance manuals and check lists.
